Grant is a 2020 American television miniseries directed by Malcolm Venville. Based on the bestselling 2017 non-fiction book by Ron Chernow, the three-part miniseries chronicles the life of Ulysses S. Grant, the eighteenth President of the United States, and premiered on May 25, 2020 on History. Produced by Leonardo di Caprio.
This was a designers dream project, it was technical, creative and challenging. Myself and my super team, not only had to recreate actual people but we also had major elements to combat. What we created with a small budget, creativity and brains was incredible.
Moffie
Moffie is a 2019 South African-British biographical war romantic drama film co-written and directed by Oliver Hermanus. The plot revolves around two gay characters Nicholas van der Swart and Dylan Stassen who attempt to come to terms with their homosexuality. The film is based on the autobiographical novel of the same name by André Carl van der Merwe. The film had its world premiere release at the Venice International Film Festival on 4 September 2019.It also had its special screenings at other film festivals and received several nominations in various categories. The title derives from a homophobic slur in South Africa.
The boy who harnessed the wind-
Iis a 2019 British drama film written, directed by and starring Chiwetel Ejiofor in his feature directorial debut. The film is based on the memoir The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer. Shot on location in Malawi. TBWHTW is the first film shot in Malawi. It was a difficult shoot because logistically it wasn't easy but Malwai offered up it's beauty in abundance. Chiwetel did a lot of street casting, which at the time we were so concerned that this would bring added issues but this was not the case at all. This movie will always be one of my most memorable.
